Project One: Preliminary Research

Source One: Bordeaux House Class Handout –

Sourced through Catherine Lassen (course coordinator) as a starting point this document provided a short descriptive scope of the overall architectural composition, further developed through accompanying architectural drawings and photographs.

Source Two: Plans, sections and elevations: Key buildings of the twentieth century – Richard Weston

Obtained through the UNSW university library, this book provided a short descriptive analysis of the Bordeaux project supported with various detailed images and architectural drawings. Drawings which provided a greater level of detail regarding the design, as not portrayed in the initial handout.

Source Three: El Croquis n.79, 1992-96 OMA/Rem Koolhaas –

Through a direct contact with the head office of the architectural firm OMA, were we provided with this source, which presented further detailed architectural drawings, but most importantly detailed images of the interior not found through main stream internet searching.

Source Four: Aperta e chiusa Open and closed, Abitare n.347, pp.58-66 (Jan, 1996) –

This source we obtained by directly contacting the London office of ARUP, however although we have not been able to yet find a copy, this source is outlined to provide a conceptual analysis of the projects composition.

Source Five: Casa Latapie a Floirac Bordeaux Maison Latapie at Floirac, Bordeaux, Domus n.791, pp.44-47 (Mar, 1997) –

Also sourced by directly contacting the London office of ARUP, this source although, again not yet located is suggested to further provide a conceptual analysis considering the built form and notion of an outer shell.
