Project One: Final Model

Rem Koolhaas -Bordeaux House 1:100

The collection of images above portrays our group’s final model of Rem Koolhaas’s Bordeaux House, constructed of primarily balsa and box board. The use of only two materials allows a clear distinction to appear between the house and the landscape, while still remaining connected. Further the lightness of the balsa portrays an overall sense of lightness as the upper floor floats above the others and the surrounding landscape. While the overall circular base presents an instability of form as expressed within the structural system of the building.
